Bill White and the White Brothers Return to the Flinton Community Jamboree!
Be sure to attend Thursday and Saturday to hear Bill White and the White Brothers entertain – a long time favourite of the Jamboree!
You’ve probably heard about the band Bill White and White Pine. In fact, Bill White has performed at the Flinton Jamboree for most of the Jamboree’s history. This year we are pleased to welcome Bill White and the White Brothers. Actually that’s 2 sets of brothers: Bill and Murray White and 2 of Bill’s sons, Joe and Jim.
Bill plays the rhythm guitar with vocals, Murray plays the electric guitar, Joe plays the violin and Jim plays the bass. Bill describes the band’s music as ‘Class Country Music – along the lines of Merle Haggard and Buck Owens’.
The Whites have played for many years at special occasions but in the last 3 years have taken on more events and Jamborees. All have entertained at events individually. Bill remarked he is most proud of playing at the Wheeling Jamboree in Wheeling, West Virginia. ‘Growing up I can recall listening to the Wheeling radio show Saturday nights on the radio’, says Bill. ‘I was particularly proud to play in Wheeling with Joe’.
Bill and Murray still have a homestead in Plevna, Ontario (not far from Flinton). They grew up there and now use the homestead as a cottage. Bill, Murray and Joe now live in Kingston and Jim lives in Trenton.
